Das Thema (Trinität) ist frei interpretierbar. Einschränkung: Es werden weder theologische Abhandlungen noch moralisierende oder missionierende Texte gesucht.

Einzureichen sind selbst verfasste und bisher unveröffentlichte Texte aus dem ost-, südosteuropäischen und deutschen Sprachraum. Der Umfang darf 12.000 Zeichen nicht überschreiten. Die Texte müssen in der Originalsprache sowohl digital (per Mail) als auch analog (auf dem Postweg) übermittelt werden. Alle Gattungen sind willkommen.

Der Wettbewerb ist mit insgesamt EUR 8.000,- dotiert,
gestiftet von Prof. Dr. Philipp Harnoncourt aus Anlass seines 80. Geburtstags.

Die Jury entscheidet durch Mehrheitsbeschluss sowohl über die Vergabe der Preise wie auch über die Aufnahme der Texte in das Katalogbuch zum vorliegenden Projekt.

Zum Thema des Wettbewerbs

Im Namen des Vaters und des Sohnes und des Heiligen Geistes: Mit dieser Formel wird in allen christlichen Kirchen die Taufe gespendet. Und unzählige Male wurden im Laufe der Geschichte Stirn, Mund und Brust berührt und diese Formel geflüstert. Die Trinität Gottes ist eine zentrale Aussage im christlichen Glauben; sie stellt den monotheistischen Ansatz gleichsam dialektisch auf die Probe. Die Christen nennen das Mysterium, und sie sagen in ihrem Glaubensbekenntnis: Ich glaube an Gott, den Vater,… ich glaube an Gott, den Sohn,… ich glaube an Gott, den Heiligen Geist.
Kirchenlehrer - allen voran Aurelius Augustinus (354-430), der acht Bücher De Trinitate verfasst hat - haben im frühen Christentum versucht, die Vorstellung der Trinität denkerisch zu durchdringen. Augustinus selbst warnt aber: "Wer meint, die Trinität verstanden zu haben, hat Gott nicht gefunden."
Der Hymnendichtung zwischen dem 12. und 18. Jahrhundert lag die Gleichung Dreifaltigkeit = Drei-Einheit als Topos zu Grunde. Danach herrschte bis auf das Gemurmel von Formeln weitgehend Schweigen. Oder die Auseinandersetzung fand unter neuen Prämissen in anderen – profanen - Kontexten, man denke an Hegels Phänomenologie des Geistes, statt.
Die Bildkunst hat atemberaubende, inspirierende, aber auch irreführende Bilder der Trinität ins kulturelle Gedächtnis eingespeist.
Allen Bildern, Metaphern, Visionen, allen philosophisch-theologischen Systematisierungsversuchen liegt die archetypische Potenz der Zahl 3 zu Grunde. Sie meint Vielfalt, SchöpferInnenkraft, Wachstum, vorwärts gerichtete Bewegung, Überwindung von Dualität, Ausdruck, Synthese. Die Drei ist die erste Zahl, auf die das Wort "alles" zutrifft. Oder wie Aristoteles schreibt: "Die Triade ist die Zahl des Ganzen, insofern sie einen Anfang, eine Mitte und ein Ende hat."

Der Literatur-Wettbewerb ist Teil eines Gesamtprojektes, das auch einen Wettbewerb in der Sparte Bildende Kunst umfasst (Ausschreibungstext: www.kultum.at/trinitaet).

Einsendeschluss: 1. März 2011 (es gilt das Datum des Poststempels).

Die Preisvergabe erfolgt durch die Jury im Mai 2011. Die Gewinner des Wettbewerbes werden über den Postweg informiert (Bekanntgabe auch auf www.kultum.at/trinitaet).
Die Preisverleihung findet in der Woche nach dem Dreifaltigkeitsfest (20. Juni) 2011 statt.

It is completely up to you how you interpret the topic. Restriction: We are neither looking for theological essays nor proselytizing texts.

Closing date: March 1, 2011

Previously unpublished texts written by the applicants themselves and from the East /South East European and German language areas can be submitted. The texts must not exceed 12,000 characters. The texts must be submitted in their original language and in both digital (email) and analogue form (postal mail). All genres are welcome.

The competition is endowed with EUR 8,000 in total and has been donated by Prof. Dr. Philipp Harnoncourt on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

The jury’s decisions concerning both the awarding of prizes and the inclusion of submitted texts into the catalogue book accompanying the project in question are taken by the majority of the votes of its members.

On the Topic of the Competition
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: In all Christian churches baptism is received with this formula. And countless times throughout history people have touched their foreheads, mouths and chests and whispered this formula. The Trinity of God is a central statement of Christian faith. Christians call this mystery and in their profession of faith they say: We believe in God, the father, ... We believe in one Lord, ..., the only Son of God, ...We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord ...
In early Christianity Doctors of the Church - first of all Aurelius Augustinus (St. Augustine, 354-430), who wrote eight books On the Trinity (De Trinitate ) - tried to come to terms intellectually with the conception of Trinity. Yet St Augustine himself warned: "Who thinks he has understood the Trinity has not found God!"
Between the 12th and the 18th century Christian hymns were based on the equation ‘Trinity = triunity’ as their topos. Then there was more or less silence, apart from the murmuring of formulas. Or the discussion started out from new premises in other - secular - contexts; just think of Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit.
Visual arts have fed breathtaking, inspiring but also misleading images of Trinity into our cultural memory.
Yet what underlies all images, metaphors and visions, all philosophical and theological attempts of systematization, is the archetypical potentiality of the number of 3. It signifies multiplicity, creativity, growth, forward movement, the overcoming of duality, expression, and synthesis. Three is the first number to which the word ‘everything’ applies. Or in Aristotle’s words: "The triad is the number of the whole, inasmuch as it has a beginning, a middle and an end."

The literature competition is part of an overall project which also includes a competition in the field of visual arts (competition text: www.kultum.at/trinitaet).

The prizes will be awarded by the jury in May 2011. The winners of the competition will be notified by postal mail. (They will also be announced on www.kultum.at/trinitaet.) The prize-giving ceremony will take place in the week after Trinity Sunday (June 20) 2011.
